My one and only professional contract.

Many years ago, I worked for a used bookstore that shall remain nameless (with an owner who shall remain heartless and a bitch to boot).

In the days before the internet, no less.

We used to search the old fashioned way, with our eyes, not a keyboard.

The ownership wanted to advertise the "search system" they'd implimented (basically writing down what customers were looking for and hoping that one of us would remember what was being looked for when it came in) so they asked me to create 4 posters for the store. These are them.

Oh and in case you were wondering, I consider it a "professional contract" because I was asked to do it, not because I got paid...

This is one of the few things I've ever drawn strictly from my imagination. I used my own hands for reference and the rest came out of my little brain. No art or photos were harmed in the process.

I tried to come up with something between comic book and ye olde illustrator for Holmes. The book is just silly.

These were meant to be seen from a ways away, thus the odd lines...

That is a BIG ass!!!

Comic Book Covers

Many, many moons ago, I entered a neat comic book cover contest.

There were 3 categories.

One for straight reproduction, one for the "next" issue of a book and one for a totally original creation.

I actually won the reproduction category. As soon as I can figure out where I stashed the winning piece, I'll post it along with the cover I copied.

For now, here are the two entries that didn't win.

From the "next" issue category, Wolverine # 30. Wolvie faces the most evil opponent of his career...

For you young'ns, NKOTB was the n'sync of its day...

And in the original category...
Funny how this was a current pop culture reference when I was 20 and here it's one again as I near 40...

Art of all kinds, except the good kind.

Just a bunch of sketches.

My first and only attempt at a female superhero. They're not 'line-y' enough for my meager talents.
Just a quick pen sketch. I never did much in pen. I like (and usually need) erasers.
I really dig the Punisher, but this version looks a little femme-y...

When I scanned this, I called it BatsUnfinished. Unfinished also means 'Won't ever get finished.'
Without a doubt my best 'full body' piece ever.
The very first thing I ever made a serious attempt at drawing that wasn't for a school project. It's still one of my best pieces.
Kid Flash was one of my favourites as a kid. I dug the 'Flash-esque' costume elements with the 'open' mask concept.
